Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 04, March 2016 - Former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard shrugged off dizziness to overcome Cagla Buyukakcay and booked her place in the semi-finals of the BMW Malaysian Open at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club tonight.

The 22-year-old Canadian took one hour 31 minutes to secure a comfortable 6-1, 6-4 win and denied the world No.128 Cagla her career's first ever last four appearance of the WTA Tour-level tournament.

The straight-sets win was Eugenie's third all week. The match itself which was scheduled to start at 6.30pm was delayed for an hour because of a heavy downpour.

The world No.52 will face either Sabine Lisicki of Germany or Great Britain's Naomi Broady for a place in the final tomorrow.

Eugenie appeared to be feeling uncomfortable after the third game - while trailing 1-2 in the second set - and she requested for a medical timeout.

But the sixth seed showed no signs that she was affected.

She did well to hold her serve and went on to break Cagla twice on her way to a commanding 5-2 lead.

But 25-year-old Cagla, who's bidding to improve on her quarter-final outing in 2014, was not going to give up without a fight.

She put in a spirited display, saving two match points to clinch the eight game before cutting Eugenie's lead to 5-4.

In the end, Eugenie proved why she was once the world No.5 as she stepped up her game and raced to a 40-15 before easily sealing the victory.

"She (Cagla) is a tough opponent and I got a bit dizzy in the second set, but I manage to fight back," said Eugenie.

"I'm not feeling great to be honest. The conditions were pretty tough, but the trainer came on and helped out a little bit and I felt better.

"At times I was seeing four balls, so to finish in two sets is really great."

On her possible clash with either third seed Sabine or Naomi, she said: "They both are tough girls. I'll watch their match a little bit and then I'll need to get some rest.
